I usually try to stop by here everytime I'm in Portland. We got the fried chicken leg quarter from the curry & roti sets and it was delicious! The chicken was super crispy and tender. I really like the roti cause it goes well with the curry. I wish I had more roti to dip the curry in cause I couldn't waste the flavorful curry. Service was quick and easy. You have to order the food first and then either sit down inside or outside. They will bring your food to your table.

First time here and it was awesome. The place is small, wish it was bigger. You order at the counter, grab a number and an available table (seating available outside as well). I got the southern pad Thai and oh man it was divine. The flavor was different than the original chicken pad Thai that I usually order at other Thai places but this did not disappoint. Look forward to go there again and try something new.

I was recommended to eat Hat Yai a couple of times so my wife and I finally pulled the trigger this past weekend. In short, the food was good! To quote my wife, their flavors are excellent. We ordered the "Hat Yai for 2" and I was pleasantly surprised. The curry is delicious (rich in flavor), the fried chicken is crispy (the shallots and sauce that comes with it compliment the chicken so well), and the roti is a great addition for dipping the curry. The sticky rice is oddly a bit dry for my liking but you can sub for jasmine rice (something I'd recommend doing, but that's just me). And, of course, they serve Coca-Cola (huge win!). We'll definitely be back!

We came by in the early afternoon and we're able to sit down immediately. The restaurant was cute and clean and the staff were super friendly. We got there with just less than an hour before they closed for the afternoon, so we were a bit worried about timing. We started out with drinks - Thai Tea and a slushy option because it was crazy hot last weekend. We ordered the plate for 2 and it was the perfect amount of food. Two chicken breasts, a wing, and a leg, alongside a generous portion of sticky rice, curry and 2 pieces of roti. I was a huge fan of the roti. It was thick and perfectly crispy. The curry was also so so good. I'd definitely come back next time I'm in Portland.

oh my I love hat yai!! Starting off with parking, it was definitely a bit tricky on a saturday afternoon around 12:30 pm. I had to go around a couple times to snag a spot but I won't let that bring down my rating. Upon walking in, you place your order, take a number and find a seat. I took my food to-go, however, I only had to wait around 5 minutes for my order so I was pleasantly surprised! Onto the food, the star of the show! I ordered the fried chicken set which comes with fried chicken leg quarter, roti & the curry. I also got a thai iced tea. Took me about a 20 minute drive home, but the chicken was still crunchy! Roti was absolutely delicious and I regret not buying an additional one. I dipped all 3 together and it was so so good! definitely wish there was a little spice though. The thai iced tea was freaking amazing!! I would definitely say of all the thai iced tea's i've had so far, hat yai has the best! I would definitely come back soon! 5/5 stars for Hat Yai!

I recently dined at Hat Yai, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish! The food was absolutely delicious. The fried chicken was cooked to perfection, with the skin being incredibly crispy and flavorful. We also ordered the green curry, which was fantastic and had just the right amount of kick to it. The roti bread paired with the curry was another highlight - fresh and perfectly cooked. The seating arrangements were great, too. We opted to sit outside to take advantage of the lovely weather, which added to the overall enjoyable atmosphere. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, guiding us through the menu and making excellent recommendations. All in all, Hat Yai exceeded our expectations in every way. Highly recommended!

So yummy! I especially loved their drinks! Their ox tail soup was also good! Strong lemongrass flavor. Service here was quick and friendly on a Monday for lunch!

Definitely one of my favorite places to get fried chicken, roti and curry. We ordered the Hat Yai for 4. My photo I took only captures some of the food it came with - comes with two sticky rices, two curries, whole chicken and their sauce, 4 roti's and pickled onions, jalapeños. When we came here it was really busy, might be a bit understaffed. The staff told us it'd probably take an hour for them to get their orders and after we ordered they said we were the last ones. We waited 40 mins before the food arrived. The sticky rice was good, nice coconut flavor. The curry and roti are my favorite. Roti could have been more flaky like I've had from them before. The fried chicken was good, nice and flavorful no need for sauce honestly. This was enough to feed 4 people if not that hungry, if you are I suggest ordering another dish. We also got a mango sticky rice for dessert (not pictured) and that was delicious too.

Great food! Casual ambiance! Quick and attentive service! The Thai pork was yummy and spicy! The combo plate was delicious and the go-to item on the menu and I see why. The fried chicken is so moist and the fried coating isn't too much. Highly recommend if you are in the area looking for a quick casual meal or takeout.
